Styles of Lolita: Colored Lolita

Colored Lolita is a single color version of Classic Lolita.  This style is actually a collective for the styles Aka Lolita, Kuro Lolita, Shiro Lolita, Sax Lolita, Mono Lolita and Pink Lolita.  These terms are most only used in Japan, though are sometimes used in other countries.  Kuro, meaning black, and Shiro, meaning white, are made up of just a single color outfit with no other color on lace or any other element besides the wig or hair.  Aka, Sax and Pink Lolita are mostly made up of the base color with white lace and very few white elements.  Mono Lolita is a pattern between white and black where as the blouse is white, skirt is black, socks are white and shoes are black or the opposite, either way interchanging the colors with equal amounts of both.

✔ Headwear ranges widely and can be everything from hats of different sizes, flowers, bonnets  barrettes, head bows and headbands.  Wigs are not very common, though if wearing one, it must be of a natural hair color or one that matches the color of the style.

✖ Almost anything is popular in this style, though color is what can cause the outfit to be off.

✔ A blouse in the appropriate color is best for these styles of Lolita.

✖ Anything is fine besides tops that show cleavage.

✔ Skirts are usually the standard knee length and are solid colored with no pattern and a few elements of light lace trim or ribbons.  One-pieces and JSK are common as well, though must be solid.

✖ Skirts that lay above the fingertips are too short for this style and should be avoided.

✔ Undergarments, such as a pannier or bloomers is best for this style.  Finding them in the proper color is ideal, thought white or black can be used if not.

✖ Do not attempt to skip proper undergarments or use costume petticoats as this will look terrible and will also be very scratchy and uncomfortable for you.

✔ Socks should be knee socks, ankle socks, OTK socks or tights.  These should be plain or have a simple lace trim around them.

✖ Please for the love of all that is good do not wear stockings. These are like tights, but see-through or netted and defeat the entire purpose of modesty in Lolita.

✔ For the shoes, try to go with simple or ribbon shoe. A Lolita shoe is considered one that is modest with a closed toe and slight heel. Some examples of acceptable shoes are platforms, Mary Janes, rocking horse shoes and ballet flats, even though they don't have a heel.

✖ Do not wear high heels that are more than four inches. This tends to look off and makes your outfit less modest as heels that aren't platforms are associated with erotic adult professions.

Other tips for your Colored Lolita outfit include:

✚ The make-up for these styles is very simplistic and consists of mascara, eye liner, eye shadow and pink or red blush.  Lipstick is usually a transparent gloss, neutral or pink.  Fake eye lashes and circle lenses can be used as well to achieve a doll look.  The make-up should be neutral or follow the color of your outfit.
✚ Accessories for these styles include very simplistic and elegant items such as pearls, roses, lace gloves and crowns.
✚ If you use a bag or purse, it is best for it to be plain with a simple bow.

Examples of Colored Lolita are Aka Lolita, Kuro Lolita, Shiro Lolita, Sax Lolita, Pink Lolita and Mono Lolita.
