Styles of Lolita: Guro Lolita

Guro Lolita contains all the basic anatomy of a Lolita outfit and retains it's modesty.  While it retains the same anatomy, the items are toned down, less lace and less dressy all together.  The outfit is usually all white with splatterd blood, wounds and other items to make the outfit 'gore'.

✔ Headwear is usually nothing more than an alice bow or headdress.

✖ Do not wear a wig. It's casual and a wig is usually dressy. If you want to, get a simple wig that is straight or with waves, but not over the top curls and pigtails. As with all other Lolita, never wear your hair back in a ponytail!

✔ A white blouse should be used for this style, though a one-piece is just as common.  Other colors may be used, though they take away from the horror effect of the style.  If desired, fake blood may be splattered onto the piece of clothing to have a more Gore effect.

✖ Like other styles of Lolita, try to keep modest.  Cleavage is not acceptable in this style.

✔ The skirt should be simple, with no design and would be best in white.  A standard knee-length Lolita skirt or JSK would work well with this style of dress.  Fake blood may be splatted on the skirt for the horror effect or small tares can be made in the fabric.

✖ Try to keep the skirt modest.  No mini skirts should be used in this style of dress, though ankle length skirts should be avoided as well.

✔ Undergarments, such as a pannier or bloomers should also be worn.

✖ Do not attempt to skip undergarments just because it's casual.

✔ Socks should be knee socks, OTK socks or tights.  Plain white is best.

✖ Please for the love of all that is good do not wear stockings. These are like tights, but see-through or netted and defeat the entire purpose of modesty in Lolita.

✔ For the shoes, try to go with simple Mary Janes or other qualifying shoes.

✖ Do not wear high heels that are more than four inches. This tends to look off and makes your outfit less modest as heels that aren't platforms are associated with erotic adult professions.

Other tips for your Guro Lolita outfit include:

✚ Only use a small amount of lace and just a few ribbons.
✚ Make-up should be light in pale tone, if any makeup is used.  Fake eye lashes and circle lenses can be used to add to the look of being a broken doll.
✚ This style usually isn't decorated with too many accessories, though fake blood, bruises, stitches and bandages are welcome.  Put them where you feel they look best and try to learn how to properly make gore open wounds or blood bruises with make-up to create a truly Guro Lolita outfit.  Medical eye patches are the most common accessory in a Guro Lolita outfit.
✚ If you use a bag or purse, keep it simple with just a bow or in the shape of a stuffed animal.
