Styles of Lolita: Ouji Lolita

Ouji Lolita is a prince style version of Gothic Lolita.  The colors are either dark or haunting and play around the more dark aspects of the Lolita fashion.  Ouji Lolita includes western prints of night creatures, bats, crosses, skulls, animals and churches.  Ouji Lolita only really different in the fact that gathered pants are used instead of a skirt..  Here is what you should and shouldn't do when dressing in Ouji Lolita.

✔ Headwear for this style includes miniature top hats and normal sized or flat top hats.  Hair can be any color, though is usually neutral and should be short in a bob or sailor boy cut.

✖ Most other Lolita headwear is not used in this style.

✔ A standard black or white blouse is used for this style.

✖ Anything other than a blouse is usually frowned upon.

✔ Gathered pants of capri length and puffy shorts are the most popular bottoms for Ouji Lolita.  Instead of a JSK, a short jumper with puffy pant legs is used.

✖ Skirts of any kind should be avoided for this style.

✔ Standard Lolita undergarments do not need to be used, though bloomers do help in make the pants a bit puffier if you desire.

✖ There is not rule set for undergarments.

✔ Socks should be knee socks, OTK socks or tights.  The designs on them are usually simple and up one side of each sock, though they can be plain or have a pattern on the entire piece.

✖ Please for the love of all that is good do not wear stockings. These are like tights, but see-through or netted and defeat the entire purpose of modesty in Lolita.

✔ For the shoes, try to go with simple qualifying shoes. A Lolita shoe is considered one that is modest with a closed toe and slight heel.  Some examples of acceptable shoes for Ouji Lolita are platforms, boots and dress shoes.

✖ Do not wear high heels that are more than four inches. This tends to look off and makes your outfit less modest as heels that aren't platforms are associated with erotic adult professions.

Other tips for your Ouji Lolita outfit include:

✚ There is no set color theme for Ouji Lolita, though darker colors are used.
✚ Accessories for Ouji Lolita include lace gloves and necklaces with gothic elements.
✚ Your make-up should be elegant and doll-like for this style.  Mascara, eye liner, dark or black eye shadow, some shade of pink or red blush and lipstick or gloss in shades from pink to dark red.  Circle lenses are also very popular along with fake eyelashes.  For males using this style to look boyish and not dolly, you do not have to wear any make-up at all.
✚ If you use a bag or purse, it can be anything that is plain and in a dark color.  The shape of the bag should stick with the gothic theme.
